- Chief of State: President Janez DRNOVSEK

- Assembly: Slovenia has a bicameral Parliament consisting of the National Assembly (Drzavni Zbor) with 90 seats and the National Council (Drzavni Svet) with 40 seats.
Description of electoral system:
- The President is elected by absolute majority vote through a two-round system to serve a 5-year term.
- The Prime Minister is elected by parliament.
- In the National Assembly (Drzavni Zbor) 90 members are elected through an open-list proportional representation system to serve 4-year terms*. In the National Council (Drzavni Svet) 40 members are elected by an electoral college to serve 5-year terms.**
* 40 seats are directly elected and 50 are selected on a proportional basis; Note - the numbers of directly elected and proportionally elected seats varies with each election.
** This is primarily an advisory body organized on corporatist principles with limited legislative powers; it may propose laws, ask to review any National Assembly decisions, and call national referenda;
