Results Notes

According to Articles 209 and 211 of Organic Law No. 21-01 (2021), as amended, provisional results are announced by the National Independent Authority for Elections within 48 hours of receiving polling results after their approval by the Authority's Council, while final results are proclaimed by the Constitutional Court within 10 days of receiving the provisional results.

General Information

At Stake in this Election:

All 407 seats in the Algerian People's National Assembly.

Government Structure:

Chief of State: President Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE (since 19 December 2019)

Head of Government: Prime Minister Sifi GHRIEB (since 16 September 2024)

Assembly: bicameral Parliament (البرلمان الجزائري), comprised of a 407-seat People's National Assembly (المجلس الشعبي الوطني) and a 174-seat Council of the Nation (مجلس الأمة).

Electoral System:

The President is directly elected via an absolute majority vote to serve a 5-year term. The President may not serve more than two terms.

The Prime Minister is appointed by the President and is typically the leader of the majority party or coalition.

Members of the People's National Assembly are directly elected via a proportional representation system to serve 5-year terms.

Two-thirds of the members of the Council of the Nation are indirectly elected by members of People's Communal Assemblies and People's Wilaya Assemblies. One-third of the members of the Council of the Nation are appointed by the President from "among national personalities and qualified experts from scientific, professional, economic, and social fields. All members serve 6-year terms, renewable once.
