At Stake in this Election 

  • All 199 seats in the Hungarian National Assembly. 

 

  • Chief of State: Tamás SULYOK (since 26 February 2024) 

  • Head of Government: Viktor ORBÁN (since 29 May 2010) 

  • Assembly: unicameral, 199-seat National Assembly (Országgyűlés) 

  • The President is indirectly elected by Parliament to serve a 5-year term. The President may only be re-elected once.  

  • The Prime Minister is elected by the National Assembly on the advice of the President.  

  • 106 members of the National Assembly are elected from single-member constituencies and 93 members are elected from national lists. All members serve 4-year terms and face no term limits.  

The last National Assembly election was held on April 3, 2022. FIDESZ – Christian Democratic People's Party won 135 seats, United for Hungary won 57 seats, Our Homeland Movement won 6 seats, and National Self-Government of Germans in Hungary won 1 seat. Voter turnout was 70%.
