The first round of the presidential election was held on 23 March 2024.

- The President is directly elected by an absolute majority popular vote in 2 rounds if necessary. The President serves a 5-year term.

In the first round of the 2024 presidential election, Ivan KORČOK (Independent) led the field with 42.51% of the vote, followed by Peter PELLEGRINI (Hlas-SD) with 37.02%. Voter turnout was 51.65%.

- Voter registration deadline: Voter registration is not required for A) Slovak citizens who wish to vote within their municipality of residence and B) Slovak citizens with a permanent residence abroad. Slovak citizens who wish to vote in a different municipality must apply for a voter card by 4 March.
