- The Presidency of Algeria
- Chief of State: President Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE (since 12 December 2019)
- Head of Government: Prime Minister Nadir LARBAOUI (since 11 November 2023)
- Assembly: bicameral Parliament (البرلمان الجزائري) with a 170-seat Council of the Nation (مجلس الأمة) and a 407-seat National People’s Assembly (المجلس الشعبي الوطني)
- The President is directly elected by absolute majority vote in up to two rounds of voting. The President may serve up to two 5-year terms.
- The Prime Minister is nominated by the President.
- In the Council of the Nation, 114 members are indirectly elected by plurality vote via an electoral college, and 56 members are appointed by the President. The Council currently has 170 members but may have up to 174. All members serve 6-year terms, and half of the members are elected every 3 years.
- In the National People’s Assembly, all 407 members are directly elected via open-list proportional representation vote, including 8 members representing the Algerian diaspora. All members serve 5-year terms.
In the 2019 presidential election, Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE (FLN) won with 58% of the vote. Voter turnout was 40%.
