The President is directly elected by majority vote in up to two rounds. To be elected in the first round, a candidate must either: win an absolute majority of the vote if at least half of the electorate participates or win the largest number of votes which must also represent at least 1/3 of the total electorate if less than half of the electorate participates. The second round, if applicable, is determined by plurality vote. The President may serve up to two 5-year terms.

In Parliament, 71 members are elected by absolute majority vote from single-seat constituencies and 70 are elected by proportional representation vote from a single, nationwide constituency. All 141 members are directly elected and serve unlimited 4-year terms.
In the 2019 presidential election, Gitanas NAUSĖDA won in a single round with 65.86% of the vote, defeating Ingrida ŠIMONYTĖ. Voter turnout was 53.88%.
