-
All 250 seats of the National Assembly of Serbia
Elections for the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and for 65 municipal assemblies will be held concurrently.
The election was rerun in 35 polling places on 30 December 2023 after their results were annulled due to irregularities.
-
Chief of State: President Alexander VUČIĆ (since 31 May 2017)
-
Head of Government: Prime Minister Ana BRNABIĆ (since 29 June 2017)
-
Assembly: unicameral National Assembly (Народна скупштина) with 250 seats
-
The President is directly elected by absolute majority vote in up to two rounds and may serve up to two 5-year terms.
-
The Prime Minister is elected by and from among the members of the National Assembly.
-
All 250 members of the National Assembly are elected from a nationwide constituency by list proportional representation vote. Members serve 4-year terms.
In 2022, President Vučić’s “Together We Can Do Everything” coalition won the largest share of seats (120). Ten other parties also won seats, and voter turnout was 59%.
President Vučić called this snap parliamentary election in response to public demands. In May, protests broke out across the country following two mass shootings, which are unusual in Serbia. Public pressure continued into the fall, including calls for key ministers to resign.
