Electoral System:  

• The Chief of State is the monarch who then appoints the governor-general as vice-regal representative.

• The 17 members of the House of Representatives are elected in single-member constituencies by first-past-the-post voting. 16 of the seats were allocated for the island of Antigua and one for the island of Barbuda. They are elected to 5-year terms.
