Description of electoral system:
- Presidential candidates are nominated by political parties represented in the State Great Hural (Ulsyn Ikh Khural). The President is then directly elected by a simple majority popular vote, in two rounds if needed, for a 4-year term.
Last Election:
- The first round was on 26 June 2016. Miyeegombyn ENKHBOLD received 517,478 votes, or 38.64%, and Khaltmaagiin BATTULGA receieved 411,748, or 30.75%. Neither candidate received enough votes to avoid a second round.
