Description of electoral system:

The President of the Republic is indirectly elected by the People's Assembly by three-fifths majority vote (rounds 1-3) or simple majority vote (rounds 4-5). The president may serve up to two 5-year terms.
The Prime Minister is chosen by the leading party, or coalition, in parliament and is approved by presidential decree.
In the Parliament of Albania (Kuvendi i Shqipërisë) 140 members are directly elected through a closed-list proportional representation system to serve 4-year terms. There are 12 multi-member constituencies corresponding to the country's 12 administrative regions. Within any constituency, parties must meet a threshold of 3%, and pre-election coalitions must meet a threshold of 5%.
