Description of government structure:

Assembly: Pakistan has a bicameral Parliament (Majlis-e-Shoora) consisting of the Senate with 104 seats and the National Assembly with 342 seats.

Description of electoral system:

The President is indirectly elected by an electoral college of members of the Senate, National Assembly and the provincial assemblies. The President may serve up to two 5-year terms.
The Prime Minister is indirectly elected by the National Assembly.
In the Senate, 104 members are indirectly elected by provincial assemblies and territorial representatives via proportional representation voting. Senators serve 6-year terms and half of the Senate seats are contested every three years.
In the National Assembly, 272 members are elected by simple majority vote in single-member constituencies. An additional 70 members (60 women and 10 non-Muslims) are directly elected by proportional representation. All members serve 5-year terms.
